A real Beautiful Hand Woven Yathra jacket re-knitted with collars and sleeves. This jacket on sale could be used both by men and woman. It is 20 inches wide at the Soulder and 27 inches long from the collar down to the hip at the back. The sleeves are 22 inches and streches a little. Colors are from vegetable dye and fast, and can be machine washed with a little more care. Woollen Yathra is the Main Produce of the Rural woman of Bumthang from central Bhutan. These Yathras have been purchased from these rural woman by an ex-teacher and she employs house wives in rural areas, to knit and bring out the final jacket, who would other wise work as labours in risky and hazzardous work areas to support their children or family. It is not a mass production, there are about 30 women who come to work part time between their house work chores. This has given the woman of this community a chance to earn bread for the family and also attend to their homes. In earlier employments it was not only hazzardous, but they were gone from dawn till dusk. Most of the women employed here are single mothers or widows. Sale of these Cardigans/Jackets will go a long way to support these woman from this comminity and the Rural weavers of Bumthang.
